BMW Motorrad has unveiled the F 450 RR supersport globally. The TVS-built bike could go on sale in India soon, rivalling the Aprilia RS 457 and KTM RC 390.
BMW Motorrad has unveiled the F 450 RR, a fully faired supersport that becomes the third model in its F 450 family after the F 450 GS adventure bike and the F 450 R naked. The design borrows cues from BMW's flagship S 1000 RR, with a forward-leaning nose, a raised tail and RR-style daytime running lights.
Under the fairing sits a 420cc twin-cylinder liquid-cooled engine producing 47 bhp at 8,750 rpm and 43 Nm at 6,750 rpm, mated to a six-speed gearbox. BMW says the short wheelbase makes the bike agile in corners, and the equipment list includes a 6.5-inch TFT display, ABS Pro, dynamic traction control and three ride modes.

The F 450 RR will be built at TVS Motor Company's plant in Hosur, Tamil Nadu, the same factory that already produces BMW's 310cc models for global markets. That makes an India launch almost certain, though BMW has not announced a price or a date. When it does arrive, it will slot into a fast-growing segment of affordable performance bikes, taking on the Aprilia RS 457, the Kawasaki Ninja 500 and the KTM RC 390.
| Specification | BMW F 450 RR |
|---|---|
| Engine | 420cc twin-cylinder |
| Power | 47 bhp at 8,750 rpm |
| Torque | 43 Nm at 6,750 rpm |
| Gearbox | 6-speed |
| Manufacturing | TVS plant, Hosur |
The bike will be offered in four variants globally: Base, Sport, M Sport and M Sport with the Innovation package. It gets a 14-litre fuel tank, 17-inch alloy wheels, KYB upside-down front forks and an adjustable rear monoshock.

The F 450 series is central to BMW Motorrad's strategy of using the TVS partnership to build affordable, India-made bikes for export and domestic sale. If the F 450 RR is priced near its rivals, it could become the most accessible way into BMW's sportiest line-up. Until the price is announced, that remains a question mark.
India is already a major production base for BMW's smaller bikes, and the F 450 RR extends that relationship into a sportier segment. For a buyer who wants a fully faired, badge-engineered sportbike without big-bore money, it is one of the more interesting launches to watch this festive season.
