Honda SUV lineup India: Elevate facelift on October 6, 0 Alpha EV in 2027 and two all-new SUVs by 2028, including a sub-4m Brezza rival.

Honda Commits to Four New SUVs for India

Honda has confirmed a four-model SUV offensive for India as it looks to rebuild its presence beyond the City sedan and a single ageing SUV. The plan, reported by Mint on 25th September, includes the Elevate facelift arriving on 6th October, the 0 Alpha electric SUV from 2027, and two all-new India-specific SUVs, a sub-four-metre model and a midsize rival for the Hyundai Creta, both targeted at 2028.

Elevate Facelift: What Changes on October 6

The facelifted Elevate is expected to be a mid-cycle refresh rather than a mechanical overhaul: revised bumpers, a new grille and lighting signatures, fresh alloys, plus ventilated front seats, a 360-degree camera and the larger touchscreen Honda introduced on the City facelift. The 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol, 121 PS and 145 Nm with 6-speed manual or CVT options, carries over unchanged, and the ADAS suite could trickle down to more than just the top trim.

Honda 0 Alpha EV: India as a Manufacturing and Export Base

The bigger story is the 0 Alpha, Honda's first electric SUV for India. Production will happen at the Tapukara plant in Rajasthan with an investment of around ₹1,200 crore, serving both domestic buyers and exports, with Japan named as a key market. Pan-India road testing has been underway since March 2026. Honda has not confirmed battery or range figures, so treat the reported 65 kWh and 75 kWh LFP packs and 450-500 km real-world range as estimates rather than specifications. While Honda has cancelled the larger 0 Series SUV and the Saloon for other markets, the India-bound 0 Alpha stays on track.

Return to the Sub-4m Segment and a Creta Rival

By 2028, Honda plans an all-new sub-four-metre SUV, its first entry into the segment since the WR-V was discontinued in 2023. It will take on the Tata Nexon, Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Hyundai Venue and Mahindra XUV 3XO. Honda's logic is its two-wheeler base: the company sells around 6 million two-wheelers a year in India and wants to give those loyal buyers something to upgrade into. A new midsize SUV, offered with petrol, hybrid and eventually electric powertrains, is expected alongside the Elevate and could eventually replace it.

Everyone else gets a reason to wait: an India-built Honda EV and a proper compact SUV are both finally on the roadmap, with dates attached.
