Maruti Suzuki Pairs CNG With Automatic Across Three Bestsellers

Maruti Suzuki has launched automatic CNG versions of the Swift, Dzire and Baleno, pairing its factory-fitted S-CNG technology with a 5-speed Auto Gear Shift transmission for the first time. Introduced under the company's Auto Green Mission initiative, festive-season prices start at ₹7.92 lakh (ex-showroom) for the Swift CNG AMT, ₹8.32 lakh for the Baleno CNG AMT and ₹8.53 lakh for the Dzire CNG AMT.

All three cars share the 1.2-litre three-cylinder Z-series engine, which produces 69.75 PS and 101.8 Nm in CNG mode. The headline number belongs to the Dzire: a certified 36.47 km/kg, which makes it the most fuel-efficient sedan on sale in India. The Swift CNG AMT returns 35.34 km/kg and the Baleno 34.47 km/kg — in each case higher than the equivalent CNG-manual figure.

The AMT option commands a premium of ₹35,000 over the CNG-manual Swift and Dzire, and ₹40,000 for the Baleno. The Swift CNG AMT comes in VXi, VXi (O) and ZXi trims, the Dzire in VXi and ZXi, and the Baleno in Delta and Zeta.

The timing is deliberate: Maruti Suzuki's CNG sales grew 58 percent year-on-year in the April to June 2026 quarter, with a record 83,000 CNG units in July 2026 alone. With petrol's share of passenger vehicle sales sliding and festive-season demand for alternative fuels climbing, an automatic CNG removes the last big compromise for buyers who want low running costs without a clutch pedal in traffic.

What this means for you: if you drive daily in city traffic, run a taxi or cover more than 1,500 km a month, these three now offer the lowest running cost per kilometre with two-pedal convenience. Book at the introductory festive prices and confirm the waiting period with your dealer.
