JSW MG Motor India has launched the Hector Tomahawk EV with a 69.2 kWh battery, 517 km ARAI range and India's first vehicle-to-home feature.
JSW MG Motor India has launched the Hector Tomahawk EV, and the headline feature is not the range or the price but a two-way charger. The SUV debuts vehicle-to-home (V2H) technology in India, which lets the car's 69.2 kWh battery run household appliances, power a campsite, or supply emergency electricity to a home during a blackout. It is the first mainstream Indian electric SUV to offer the feature.
The hardware is credible. A permanent-magnet synchronous motor produces 150 kW, about 204 hp, and 310 Nm of instant torque. MG quotes an ARAI-certified range of 517 km on a single charge, and the SUV accepts DC fast charging at up to 90 kW, which keeps highway stops short. The battery uses MG's MAGIC high-voltage pack on its ADAPT platform.

MG has announced an introductory price of ₹13.99 lakh for an initial batch of bookings, and buyers can also choose the company's Battery-as-a-Service ownership model, under which the car and the battery are priced separately and the battery is rented monthly. BaaS lowers the upfront cost but adds an ongoing payment, so the cheaper sticker is not automatically the cheaper car to own.

The Tomahawk name is a deliberate nod to the World War II-era Curtiss P-40 Tomahawk fighter, and MG's new campaign plays on that with a father-daughter film built around the aircraft's legacy. Marketing aside, the badge signals that this is positioned as MG's flagship electric family SUV rather than a budget commuter.

At an introductory ₹13.99 lakh, the Hector Tomahawk EV undercuts most electric SUVs of its size, and the V2H feature is genuinely useful for households that lose power often. The catch is the same one every EV faces in India: real-world range will be well below the 517 km ARAI claim, and fast charging outside the big cities is still patchy. If you charge at home and mostly drive in the city, this is a strong value proposition. If you cross states every month, plan your route carefully.
