Tata Motors reported a consolidated net profit of ₹1,257 crore for Q2 FY27 against a loss last year, with revenue up 36.3 percent to ₹25,338 crore on 42 percent higher CV volumes.
Tata Motors reported a consolidated net profit of ₹1,257 crore for the quarter ended 30 September 2026, against a loss of ₹867 crore in the same quarter last year. Revenue from operations rose 36.3 percent to ₹25,338 crore from ₹18,585 crore. The swing is partly operational and partly accounting — the year-ago loss carried a large one-time hit — but the operating numbers stand on their own.
EBITDA rose 31 percent to roughly ₹2,800 crore, though the margin slipped 40 basis points to 10.9 percent as steel, rubber and other commodity costs climbed. On a standalone basis, revenue was ₹23,930 crore, up 42 percent, with profit after tax at ₹2,138 crore and free cash flow of ₹4,600 crore. That took the business to a net cash position of ₹11,300 crore at the end of September.
Wholesales came in at 1,35,100 units, up 42 percent. Domestic volumes grew 30 percent and exports grew 177 percent to 21,132 units, helped by a large Indonesia order. Export mix also explains why realisations per vehicle fell slightly: light and small commercial vehicle exports carry lower prices than domestic heavy trucks.

| Consolidated revenue | ₹25,338 crore | +36.3% |

| Profit after tax | ₹1,257 crore | vs ₹867 crore loss |

Market share is the number management will want to protect. Domestic commercial vehicle share stood at 36.2 percent in H1 FY27, up 110 basis points from FY26, with heavy commercial vehicles at 55.7 percent, intermediate and light medium CVs at 36.3 percent, small commercial vehicles and pickups at 27.6 percent, and buses at 41.1 percent.
Two things hang over the second half. The first is cost. Management guided to a commodity headwind of roughly 150 to 200 basis points in Q3 on top of what has already hit, depending on steel and rubber prices. The second is the base effect: after a 35 percent volume rise in H1, growth rates have to moderate, and the company has said it still expects double-digit industry growth for the full year.
The Iveco acquisition is also close to landing. All regulatory approvals are in, the tender offer ran to 26 October, and settlement is scheduled for 30 October. If you are buying a truck, our commercial vehicle reviews cover the models that moved these numbers.
For a fleet operator, this is a supplier with cash in the bank and the widest service network in the segment — the practical takeaway is that discounting should stay rational rather than desperate. For a buyer of Tata passenger cars, nothing here changes your decision: this is the commercial vehicle business, now a separately listed entity, and its health does not flow into the Nexon's waiting period.
