Aprilia SXR GT 125 and 175 Launched in India, Prices Start at ₹1.11 Lakh

By AUTOASTRA Editorial · 2 Oct 2026 · Launch

Aprilia has launched the SXR GT 125 and 175 scooters in India from ₹1.11 lakh, reviving the maxi-scooter nameplate with bigger 14-inch wheels and new tech.

Aprilia Revives Its Maxi-Scooter Lineup

Aprilia has brought back its SXR maxi-scooter nameplate with the new SXR GT range, launched in 125cc and 175cc forms at ₹1.11 lakh and ₹1.31 lakh respectively, ex-showroom Delhi. Bookings are already open. The SXR 125 and SXR 160 had quietly gone off sale earlier this year, and the GT twins fill that gap, sitting on the same platform as the SR 125 and SR 175.

The biggest chassis change is a move to 14-inch wheels, up from 12 inches, which Aprilia says improves stability and comfort over broken roads. Both scooters keep the signature Tripod LED headlamp and gain new bodywork and graphics. The 175 is the more feature-rich of the two, adding a five-inch TFT display with Bluetooth connectivity, music and call controls and turn-by-turn navigation. Our two-wheeler coverage tracks these launches.

Both engines use a three-valve head and electronic fuel injection, and are E20-compatible. Braking comes from a 220 mm front disc with a rear drum, single-channel ABS on the 175 and CBS on the 125. Suspension is a telescopic fork up front and a five-step adjustable rear shock. Optional extras include an adjustable windscreen and a crash guard. Diego Graffi, Chairman and Managing Director of Piaggio Vehicles, said the brand sees significant room for premiumisation in India's scooter market. Note: the image shows the SXR maxi-scooter family that the new GT replaces.

What this means for you: the SXR GT is a touring-flavoured scooter aimed at riders who want maxi-scooter comfort without a big-bike price. The 175 is the one to pick if you ride on highways and want connected features; the 125 makes more sense for pure city use, where the bigger wheels and upright stance still pay off over rough roads.
