Hyundai will launch the Bayon in India on 26 October with a 115 PS petrol engine, dual 12.3-inch screens, an AI voice assistant and Level 2 Pro ADAS.
Hyundai Motor India will launch the Bayon on 26 October, filling the gap between the Venue and the Creta in its Indian SUV line-up. Bookings have been open at ₹11,000 for over a month, and deliveries will begin during the festive season. The Bayon is a sub-4.3 metre SUV aimed squarely at the fast-growing mid-size segment where the Maruti Suzuki Victoris now leads.
The powertrain is familiar: a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated MPi petrol engine producing 115 PS and 144 Nm, the same output as the Creta's naturally aspirated petrol. Transmission options are a six-speed manual and Hyundai's Intelligent Variable Transmission, a CVT with a Dash Boost mode for overtaking. Hyundai has not announced a CNG variant.

The Bayon's interior is dominated by two 12.3-inch displays under a curved panoramic panel, running Hyundai's Connected Car Navigation Cockpit, which uses NVIDIA hardware for its graphics. The headline feature is Hyundai Motor India's first generative AI voice assistant, built with intelligence from Perplexity and voice technology from SoundHound AI, capable of answering conversational questions about weather, travel and nearby places.
| Feature | Hyundai Bayon |
|---|---|
| Engine | 1.5-litre MPi petrol, 115 PS, 144 Nm |
| Transmissions | Six-speed manual or iVT automatic |
| Displays | Dual 12.3-inch screens |
| Connected features | Bluelink with 70-plus functions, OTA for 19 controllers |
| Languages supported | 10 regional plus two international |
| Safety | Six airbags, Level 2 Pro ADAS with 23 functions |
Hyundai has leaned hard into localisation of the software. The infotainment and instrument cluster support ten regional languages, and more than 500 embedded voice commands work offline in English, Hindi, Hinglish, Tamil, Bengali and Telugu. Safety equipment includes six airbags, electronic stability control and SmartSense Level 2 Pro ADAS with 23 functions backed by three radars and twelve parking sensors. Hyundai says the body uses 69% advanced high-strength steel.

The Bayon's success will come down entirely to price. Positioned below the Creta, which starts at ₹11.11 lakh, it needs to land close to ₹10 lakh to avoid cannibalising Hyundai's own bestseller. If it does, it becomes a serious alternative to the Victoris for buyers who want ADAS and a big-screen cabin without paying Creta money. If it creeps above ₹13 lakh, the value argument collapses.
