Kia Carens Clavis gets three new automatic variants with turbo-petrol DCT and diesel AT options from Rs 14.67 lakh, making automatics more affordable.

Kia Makes Carens Clavis Automatics More Affordable

Kia India has expanded the Carens Clavis line-up with three new automatic variants in its value-oriented HTE range, bringing the 1.5-litre turbo-petrol DCT and the 1.5-litre diesel automatic to buyers who previously had to climb into the top trims for a two-pedal Carens Clavis. The new variants are priced from Rs 14.67 lakh (ex-showroom), a move timed squarely for the festive season.

The HTE (O) turbo-petrol DCT is now the most affordable automatic in the range at Rs 14,66,900, followed by the HTE (EX) turbo-petrol DCT at Rs 15,21,900. The HTE (O) diesel automatic sits at Rs 15,81,900, giving Rs 15 lakh-budget family buyers a genuine choice between a petrol automatic and a diesel automatic for the first time at this price point in the MPV segment.

HTE (O) Diesel AT1.5-litre diesel, 6-speed automatic114 bhp, 250 NmRs 15,81,900

All three variants come with what Kia calls the Automatic Pack, which bundles a smart key with motion sensor, push-button start, drive modes, an electronic parking brake and remote engine start. The Carens Clavis itself is available with a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol, the turbo-petrol and the diesel, paired variously with manual, iMT, DCT and torque-converter automatic gearboxes, in six- and seven-seat layouts.

The broader Carens Clavis range now runs from Rs 11.39 lakh for the base HTE petrol to Rs 21.79 lakh for the GTX Plus and X-Line trims. Measuring 4,550 mm in length with a 2,780 mm wheelbase, the MPV competes against the Maruti Ertiga-Toyota Rumion pair at one end and premium three-row SUVs at the other.

Commenting on the launch, Atul Sood, Senior Vice President and Head of Marketing and Sales at Kia India, said automatics are an increasingly important consideration for Indian customers, and the new variants make that convenience accessible across both petrol and diesel powertrains.
