Kia now offers a 15-year unlimited-km battery warranty on the Carens Clavis EV — the longest in India. Existing owners can upgrade for Rs 3,400. Full details inside.
Kia India has introduced a 15-year, unlimited-kilometre High Voltage (HV) battery warranty for the Carens Clavis EV, its first made-in-India electric vehicle. The company defines the "lifetime" period as 15 years from the date of delivery — one of the longest battery warranties offered by any carmaker in India.
| Owner type | Coverage |
|---|---|
| First private owner (cars retailed from 1 Aug 2026) | 15 years, unlimited km |
| Second owner | 8 years / 1,60,000 km |
| Commercial (taxi / fleet) | 8 years / 1,60,000 km |
| Existing owners (bought before 1 Aug 2026) | Upgrade to 15 years for Rs 3,400 |
The warranty covers HV battery capacity falling below 70 per cent of its original level, with no kilometre limit during the 15-year period.
Battery degradation anxiety remains one of the biggest reasons Indian buyers hesitate before choosing an EV. A 15-year, unlimited-km commitment directly attacks that fear — and signals Kia's confidence in its battery technology. It also strengthens the Carens Clavis EV's position as a family electric MPV, where long-term ownership cost matters more than outright performance.
The Carens Clavis EV is offered with 42 kWh and 51.4 kWh battery packs, with claimed ranges of up to 404 km and 490 km respectively. It is also covered under Kia's Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) programme, which separates the vehicle and battery costs — Kia's BaaS terms currently cite a running cost of Rs 3.30 per km for the standard-range version.
Kia's K-Charge platform, accessible through the MyKia app and website, aggregates more than 20,300 charging points across 23 charge point operators — locate, navigate and pay through a single app. The network includes more than 129 dealerships with high-capacity DC fast chargers and over 275 EV-ready workshops.
