Kia India has widened its Assured Buyback Programme across ICE, hybrid and EV models, promising up to 75% residual value on petrol and diesel cars.
Resale value is one of the biggest worries for any new-car buyer in India, and Kia India is now addressing it head-on. On 9 October 2026, the company expanded its Assured Buyback Programme across its entire internal-combustion, hybrid and electric line-up, promising an assured residual value of up to 75% for ICE models and up to 70% for EVs after three years. The programme covers the Sonet, Syros, new Seltos, Carens, Carens Clavis and Sorento, across the applicable powertrain options.
Owners can enrol at the time of purchase through participating Kia dealerships, subject to eligibility criteria and terms. ICE buyers can pick a three, four or five-year tenure, while EV buyers can choose three or four years. Annual mileage options are 10,000 km, 15,000 km or 20,000 km, with total coverage extending to 1,00,000 km over the chosen period. The assured value depends on the plan selected, and the scheme is administered by a programme partner, with valuation and settlement governed by the applicable agreement.
| Model | Powertrains covered | Maximum assured residual value |
|---|---|---|
| Kia Sonet | Petrol, diesel | Up to 75% after 3 years |
| Kia Syros | Petrol, diesel | Up to 75% after 3 years |
| Kia new Seltos | Petrol, diesel, hybrid | Up to 75% after 3 years |
| Kia Carens and Carens Clavis | Petrol, diesel | Up to 75% after 3 years |
| Kia Sorento | Diesel, hybrid | Up to 75% after 3 years |
| Kia EV models | Electric | Up to 70% after 3 years |
Atul Sood, Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Kia India, said the programme answers a growing need for certainty around resale value and upgrade convenience, adding that it brings more transparency from the day of purchase.
Kia is not alone in betting on buyback certainty. Several mass-market and premium brands have launched similar programmes in the past two years as buyers, wary of unpredictable used-car prices, ask harder questions about what a car will be worth in three years. For Kia, which has expanded quickly with the Syros and the new Seltos, an assured value can be as persuasive as a feature or a discount, particularly for its electric models, where resale confidence remains the single biggest hurdle to adoption.
An assured buyback is not a discount, but it can be a genuine budgeting tool: it fixes a floor under depreciation, which matters most for EVs, where second-hand values are still uncertain. The catch is that these schemes usually assume below-average mileage and a well-maintained car, so read the eligibility terms before signing. Buyers comparing finance and running costs can use our EMI calculator and our value and ownership tools to see how a fixed residual changes the true cost of ownership.
