Mahindra Charge_iN EV Charging Network Reaches 50 Stations in India

By AUTOASTRA Editorial · 7 Oct 2026 · Electric

Mahindra's public charging network Charge_iN has reached 50 locations, with its newest station on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway under its HPCL partnership.

A Milestone for Charge_iN

Mahindra's public electric-vehicle charging network, Charge_iN, has expanded to 50 locations in India. The newest station, at an HP Auto Care Centre on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway, is the first Charge_iN site to begin operating under the company's collaboration with Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited. Mahindra and HPCL had announced an agreement in March to develop EV charging infrastructure at HPCL retail outlets across the country.

The station's position on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway places it on one of India's busiest inter-city corridors, and co-locating a charger at an existing fuel-retail and auto-care site is a practical way to add charging without building from scratch.

Why Highway Charging Matters

Most EV charging anxiety in India is not about city driving, where home charging covers the daily routine, but about inter-city travel, where a reliable fast charger on a known corridor can decide whether a trip is practical. Mahindra's stations use 180kW dual-gun chargers, described as capable of charging its Electric Origin SUVs, and the focus on highway corridors with nearby amenities fits how owners actually use long-distance charging stops.

The company has not published a complete list or map of the 50 locations, nor a target number of additional stations or a rollout timetable for the HPCL agreement, so the pace of expansion is still to be demonstrated.

What This Means for You

If you own an electric SUV, an extra fast-charging stop on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway is a genuine convenience, and it strengthens the case for highway travel in an EV. The caveats are availability and reliability, which only real-world use will reveal, and the fact that a network milestone counts locations, not individual chargers. For buyers weighing an EV, network growth like this reduces range anxiety over time, but it is worth checking specific route coverage rather than a headline count.
