Mahindra has secured a design patent for the Scorpio Lifestyler pickup's grille ahead of the lifestyle truck's India launch by April 2027, priced under Rs 19.79 lakh.
Mahindra has received a design patent approval for the grille of the Scorpio Lifestyler pickup, giving the clearest look yet at how the front of its new lifestyle truck will be styled when it reaches showrooms by April 2027. The patent image shows a grille with multiple horizontal slats and additional ribs between them, with the Mahindra Twin Peaks logo sitting in the centre and an all-black finish expected to be topped by orange inserts.
The Scorpio Lifestyler is the production version of the Global Pik Up concept first shown in Cape Town in 2023. It shares its body-on-frame platform with the Scorpio N but gets a longer wheelbase to accommodate the load bed, and its cabin is inspired by the 2025 Vision T prototype. Mahindra says more than 270 patents were filed during development, with a focus on ride quality when the truck is running empty.
| Detail | Information |
| Launch | By April 2027 |
| Starting price | Under Rs 19.79 lakh, ex-showroom |
| Platform | Scorpio N body-on-frame, longer wheelbase |
| Editions shown | Trail, Valley, Reef |
| Rivals | Toyota Hilux, Isuzu D-Max V-Cross |
Mahindra has already confirmed the starting price will be under Rs 19.79 lakh, ex-showroom, which would undercut the Toyota Hilux and Isuzu D-Max V-Cross, both of which sit above Rs 25 lakh. At its unveiling, the pickup was shown in three editions: Trail in Sahara Beige, Valley in Artemis Grey and Reef in Aquareef. The engine line-up has not been confirmed, but the Scorpio N's 2.0-litre turbo-petrol and 2.2-litre diesel, with manual and automatic options and a four-wheel-drive setup, are the likely candidates. You can follow our Mahindra coverage for updates.
The patent filing also hints that some of the pickup's design cues could preview a future update to the Scorpio N SUV itself. Our home page has more on upcoming launches.
What this means for you: if you want pickup-truck practicality without the Hilux's price tag, the Scorpio Lifestyler is shaping up to be the value option in the segment. Wait for the engine and variant details closer to launch, since a lifestyle pickup lives or dies on how well it drives and rides, not just on how it looks.
