Mahindra Thar OG Deliveries Start 11 October

Mahindra will begin deliveries of the Thar OG on 11 October, and buyers still waiting in the queue need to watch one date closely: the introductory prices announced at launch hold only for vehicles delivered until 30 November 2026. Bookings placed earlier do not lock the price — deliveries do.

The Thar OG is the successor to the three-door Thar that arrived in 2020, and it keeps the boxy silhouette while overhauling the platform, the suspension and the safety kit. It rides on Mahindra's new M_Glyde 4G platform, moves to a rear PENTALINK suspension with a Watts Link, and swaps hydraulic steering for an electric setup — changes aimed squarely at making a lifestyle off-roader easier to live with every day.

The Variant-Wise Price List

Prices start at ₹10.32 lakh, ex-showroom, for the AXT trim with the D117 CRDe diesel and a manual gearbox. From there, the range climbs through the LXT and ZXT trims across three engines and both rear-wheel drive and four-wheel drive.

What Changed, and What Buyers Should Check

The bigger engines now make more power, with the 2.0-litre mStallion petrol and 2.2-litre mHawk diesel both up on output, while the 1.5-litre diesel carries over. Four-wheel-drive versions add an electronic locking differential and Mud, Sand and Snow terrain modes. Six airbags and all-four disc brakes are now listed, a meaningful step up from the outgoing model.

Because the price protection runs to the delivery date rather than the booking date, buyers should ask the dealer for the allocation date and the invoice month in writing, and confirm the airbag and brake specification for the exact trim before paying.
