Mercedes-Maybach S 580e Launched at ₹3.35 Crore — India's First PHEV Maybach, Only 30 Units

By AUTOASTRA Editorial · 6 Oct 2026 · Launch

Mercedes-Benz has launched the Maybach S 580e plug-in hybrid in India at ₹3.35 crore, the first electrified Maybach here, limited to 30 units.

An Electrified Maybach

Mercedes-Benz India has launched the Mercedes-Maybach S 580e at ₹3.35 crore ex-showroom, the first electrified Maybach to go on sale in the country. Only 30 units have been allocated in the first batch, making it as much a statement of exclusivity as a product launch. It costs about ₹97 lakh more than the regular S-Class Manufaktur Edition AMG Line, and it is Mercedes' third plug-in hybrid in India after the updated S-Class and the AMG E 53 Hybrid.

The big change is under the bonnet. Where the outgoing Maybach used a 4.0-litre V8, the S 580e pairs a 3.0-litre inline-six petrol engine producing 443hp and 560Nm with an electric motor good for 160hp and 480Nm. Combined output is 585hp and 750Nm, sent to all four wheels through a nine-speed automatic and 4MATIC all-wheel drive. The car hits 100kph from standstill in 4.8 seconds and tops out at an electronically limited 250kph.

Built Around the Rear Seat

The India-spec car is offered only in a four-seat First-Class rear configuration, with individual executive seats, a full-length business console, wireless charging and temperature-controlled cup holders. A Burmester 4D audio system with 31 speakers and 1,610 watts, 15 airbags and cloud-based AIRMATIC air suspension round off the package, while rear-axle steering of up to 10 degrees helps the long limousine manoeuvre.

What This Means for You

The Maybach S 580e is not a car most buyers will cross-shop, but its arrival says something about India's luxury market: electrification has reached the very top. Mercedes says roughly half of its S-Class sales here are Maybach variants, so a plug-in flagship is a sensible hedge as its customers experiment with electric driving without giving up the range security of a petrol engine. If you are in this bracket, the 98km of electric range covers most city days, and the plug-in adds a layer of quiet sophistication.
