Mini has launched the Cooper Oxford Edition in India at Rs 55.50 lakh ex-showroom, a limited-run special that celebrates 25 years of modern Mini production at Plant Oxford in the UK. The car was unveiled at Mini's newly opened dealership in Lucknow, and it is offered as a completely built unit with bookings open at all authorised Mini dealerships and deliveries starting immediately.

The Oxford Edition is built on the Favoured Pack and comes in two colours, Indigo Sunset Blue and Chilli Red, with a white contrast roof carrying Union Jack graphics. There is a red and white stripe running down the body, a crossed-flags sticker on the boot, white mirror caps and 18-inch two-tone Slide Spoke alloy wheels. Inside, the theme continues with a Union Jack on the steering wheel spoke, flag-themed door sills and JCW Sport seats in black Vescin upholstery.

Safety kit runs to airbags, ABS, dynamic stability control, cornering brake control, a rear camera and a tyre pressure monitor.

The Oxford Edition is a tribute to Plant Oxford, where the original Mini began production in 1959 and the modern Mini has been built by the BMW Group since 2001. That heritage is the entire pitch: buyers are paying for a slice of British motoring history wrapped around a genuinely quick small car.
At Rs 55.50 lakh, it sits above the BMW X1 and around the Mercedes-Benz GLA, so the decision is less about value and more about character. The Mini is smaller inside than its rivals and less practical, but it is far more distinctive, and the limited numbers give it a collector's edge. If you are cross-shopping this price band, our Compare tool and EMI calculator can help you weigh it against the German alternatives.
