Tesla has opened Roadster reservations in India for 2028 production and is offering a complimentary Acceleration Boost on the six-seat Model Y L.
Tesla has opened online reservations for the next-generation Roadster in India, even though the car will not be built until 2028. The company says production will begin that year and the first cars will be left-hand-drive only, subject to regional legal requirements. That detail matters in India, where left-hand-drive vehicles cannot be registered for road use, so the Roadster booking is best read as a queue position and a brand statement rather than an imminent purchase.

Tesla says the Roadster's design draws on the SR-71 reconnaissance aircraft and the F-35 fighter jet, and that it is engineered to outperform its Plaid models. The company has not announced an India price for the car.
The more immediately useful news is for current buyers. Tesla India has introduced a complimentary Acceleration Boost for the six-seat Model Y L, an upgrade that cuts its claimed 0-100 kmph time to 4.5 seconds. The Model Y L is quoted at a WLTP range of up to 681 km.
| Model | India price (ex-showroom) | Key detail |
|---|---|---|
| Tesla Model Y | ₹50.89 lakh | Volume electric SUV |
| Tesla Model Y L | ₹61.99 lakh | Six seats, free Acceleration Boost, 0-100 kmph in 4.5s |
| Tesla Roadster | Not announced | Reservations open, production from 2028 |
Tesla says the Model Y carries a down payment of ₹6 lakh with EMIs starting at ₹39,990 a month, and the Model Y L a down payment of ₹6.5 lakh with EMIs from ₹49,990, based on a seven-year tenure and a step-up EMI plan. Both models are part of its Refer and Earn programme, under which new buyers can receive a ₹22,000 discount.

Charging remains the practical question for any Indian EV buyer, and Tesla says it currently operates 20 Supercharger stalls and 28 Destination Charger stalls in India, with three more sites planned by the end of 2026. Home charging has been enabled for households across 23 states, and test drives are available in Noida, Delhi, Gurugram, Chennai, Pune, Ahmedabad, Hyderabad, Bengaluru and Mumbai.
For a buyer weighing a premium electric SUV, the Model Y L's free Acceleration Boost is a small but real value add, and it keeps Tesla competitive against newer entrants from BMW, Mercedes-Benz and Volvo.
