Toyota has launched the 2026 Fortuner Leader Edition at ₹36.51 lakh with black exterior styling and a black-maroon cabin. Bookings open 12 October.
Toyota Kirloskar Motor has launched the 2026 Fortuner Leader Edition, a cosmetic special edition of its flagship SUV, priced at ₹36.51 lakh for the 4x2 manual and ₹38.72 lakh for the 4x2 automatic, both ex-showroom. Bookings open on 12 October 2026, and the SUV remains mechanically identical to the standard two-wheel-drive Fortuner. For a nameplate that has already crossed 3.3 lakh sales in India since 2009, this is Toyota keeping the showroom fresh without touching the formula that works.
The changes are almost entirely visual. Outside, the Leader Edition gets a blacked-out front grille, gloss-black 18-inch alloy wheels with matching hub caps, a black roof treatment, a black antenna, a black rear door garnish and a distinct hood emblem. Three colours are offered: Super White, Platinum White Pearl and Attitude Black. Noticeably, the Silver Metallic shade that was offered on older Leader Editions has been dropped.
| Variant | Price (ex-showroom) | Engine | Drivetrain |
|---|---|---|---|
| Fortuner Leader Edition 4x2 MT | ₹36.51 lakh | 2.8L diesel, 204PS, 420Nm | Two-wheel drive |
| Fortuner Leader Edition 4x2 AT | ₹38.72 lakh | 2.8L diesel, 204PS, 500Nm | Two-wheel drive |
The automatic carries a ₹2.21 lakh premium over the manual. Inside, Toyota has fitted a dual-tone black and maroon seat upholstery with matching door trims, ambient lighting and illuminated scuff plates. Convenience additions include auto-folding outside rear-view mirrors and a tyre pressure monitoring system. The engine is unchanged: the familiar 2.8-litre four-cylinder diesel making 204PS, with torque rated at 500Nm in automatic form and 420Nm with the manual.
The timing is deliberate. October marks the start of India's biggest car-buying season, with Navratri and Diwali demand set to drive record retail volumes across the country. Rivals such as the MG Gloster, Jeep Meridian and Skoda Kodiaq have been sharpening their festive offers, but the Fortuner's grip on the ₹35 lakh to ₹50 lakh SUV space remains firm. This edition is less about winning new buyers and more about giving loyalists a reason to walk into a showroom before the year ends.
If you were already set on a Fortuner 4x2, the Leader Edition is a low-risk way to get a more distinctive look and a nicer cabin for a modest premium over the standard car. If you need four-wheel drive or the more powerful Legender experience, this edition will not help. Toyota is also offering five years of complimentary roadside assistance and a standard three-year or 1,00,000 km warranty that can be extended to five years or 2,20,000 km. Buyers weighing the Fortuner against rivals can check the full range on our Fortuner model page, and our sales data section shows why this SUV keeps its resale edge. The festive timing is deliberate: October is the single biggest car-buying window of the Indian year.
