Toyota's Glanza facelift debuts on 14 October with a new 1.2-litre Z12E engine, expected Level 2 ADAS and ventilated seats, following the Baleno update.
Toyota will reveal the facelifted Glanza on 14 October 2026, roughly a month after Maruti Suzuki launched the updated Baleno it is based on. As always, the two cars will share their mechanical package, so the headline change is the move to Maruti's newer 1.2-litre three-cylinder Z12E naturally aspirated petrol engine, which produces around 83 PS and 112 Nm. It is expected to be offered with a five-speed manual and a five-speed AMT, with a CNG version likely to follow.
Visually, expect the Glanza to mirror the Baleno facelift with a redesigned grille, a new front bumper and fresh alloy wheel designs, while the rest of the body stays largely unchanged. Inside, the changes matter more than the sheet metal: the updated Glanza is expected to gain Level 2 ADAS, ventilated front seats, a wireless charger, a tyre-pressure monitoring system and possibly a 360-degree camera and head-up display, while retaining the nine-inch infotainment screen.
| Specification | Current Glanza | Glanza facelift (expected) |
|---|---|---|
| Engine | 1.2L K12N, 4-cyl | 1.2L Z12E, 3-cyl |
| Power / Torque | 90 PS / 113 Nm | ~83 PS / 112 Nm |
| Transmission | 5MT / AMT | 5MT / 5AMT |
| Fuel options | Petrol, CNG | Petrol, CNG expected |
| Price (ex-showroom) | ₹6.73 - 9.99 lakh | Slight premium expected |
The shift to the three-cylinder Z12E is significant for buyers focused on running costs. This engine is already used in the Swift and Dzire, where it has delivered a meaningful step up in fuel efficiency over the older four-cylinder it replaces. The trade-off is a slight drop in peak power, from 90 PS to about 83 PS, which most city buyers will not notice but which enthusiasts will. Toyota is also expected to launch the Hycross Flex Fuel on the same date, underlining its push on alternative fuels.
The Glanza has always been the Baleno with Toyota's badge, service network and warranty attached, and this update keeps that formula intact while adding the safety and comfort features Indian hatchback buyers now expect. If you value Toyota's ownership experience and resale record over outright performance, the facelift strengthens the case. If you are cross-shopping premium hatchbacks, line the Glanza up against the Baleno, Swift and Hyundai i20 on our Compare page, and use the car finder to see what fits your budget before the launch.
