Toyota has teased the Glanza facelift ahead of its 14 October launch, promising a new 1.2-litre engine, Level 2 ADAS on top trims and a possible CNG-AMT option.
Toyota Kirloskar Motor will launch the facelifted Glanza on 14 October, a month after its platform sibling, the Maruti Suzuki Baleno, received its own update. The company has already released a teaser that shows a reworked front end, and dealer sources point to a mechanical change underneath: a new 1.2-litre three-cylinder petrol engine in place of the older four-cylinder unit.

The teaser focuses on the nose. There is a silver-finished grille surround framing a black honeycomb mesh, a body-coloured panel carrying the Toyota emblem and a red trim strip separating the upper grille from the bumper. Headlamp details are still partly hidden, but the overall look is sharper than the outgoing car. The Glanza has always been Toyota's version of the Maruti Baleno, and this update keeps that relationship intact.
The bigger story is the powertrain. The Baleno facelift moved to a 1.2-litre three-cylinder engine that is lighter and more efficient than the four-cylinder it replaced, and the Glanza is expected to follow. A five-speed manual and a five-speed AMT are the likely gearbox choices. For buyers who clock long distances, a factory-fitted CNG option is also tipped, and reports suggest it could be paired with the AMT, a combination that is still rare in this price band.
| Model | Segment | Expected or current price |
|---|---|---|
| Toyota Glanza facelift | Premium hatchback | Rs 6.46 - 9.44 lakh (estimated) |
| Maruti Suzuki Baleno | Premium hatchback | Rs 6.66 - 9.66 lakh |
| Hyundai i20 | Premium hatchback | Rs 7.04 - 11.21 lakh |
| Tata Altroz | Premium hatchback | Rs 6.50 - 10.60 lakh |
On the feature side, industry reports suggest ventilated front seats, a wireless charger with active cooling and an upgraded Clarion audio system could make it to the top variants. The headline addition, though, is expected to be Level 2 ADAS, which bundles adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assist, automatic emergency braking and high-beam assist. If it lands, the Glanza would be the first premium hatchback in India to offer the full suite, a segment where such tech has so far stayed on larger SUVs.

The Glanza facelift will continue to fight the Maruti Baleno, Hyundai i20 and Tata Altroz. Toyota has not announced prices, but the outgoing model runs from Rs 6.73 lakh to Rs 9.99 lakh, and a small premium is widely expected. Buyers weighing a premium hatchback should compare on-road costs carefully, since the Baleno, i20 and Altroz all carry different festive offers this month. Toyota's pitch rests on two things: its service network and the fact that the Glanza, being a Baleno underneath, is cheap to run and easy to resell. The ADAS addition, if it is confirmed, gives Toyota a talking point its rivals currently lack. More detail, including the full variant list and final prices, will be out on 14 October.
