Triumph Bonneville 400 Reveal on 6 October — India's Newest Classic 350 Rival

By AUTOASTRA Editorial · 5 Oct 2026 · Launch

Triumph will reveal the Bonneville 400 on 6 October, taking its Bajaj-built 400 platform straight into Royal Enfield Classic 350 territory.

Triumph Bonneville 400 Reveal Set for 6 October

Triumph will unveil four new motorcycles on 6 October, and for India the one that matters most is the Bonneville 400. The neo-retro roadster has been spied testing for months, and it becomes the first model in the Bajaj-built 400 family to chase the traditional modern-classic buyer rather than the sportier Speed 400 or the Scrambler 400 X.

The timing is deliberate. The Royal Enfield Classic 350 and Bullet 350 have ruled India's retro roadster segment for years, and Honda's recently refreshed CB350 line has added pressure at the top. Triumph's existing 400s have largely stayed away from that fight. The Bonneville 400 walks straight into it, and it does so from the same Pune production line that has already made the brand's 400s one of its biggest Indian successes.

A More Traditional Bonneville, on Purpose

Spy images suggest the bike looks far more classic than its siblings. Expect a teardrop fuel tank, a flat bench seat, rounded mudguards, a circular headlamp and a peashooter-style exhaust, echoing the larger Bonneville T100 and T120. The biggest mechanical departure is the suspension: gaitered telescopic forks up front and twin rear shock absorbers, instead of the USD fork and monoshock the rest of the 400 range uses.

Power is expected to come from the same 349cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine that already does duty in the Bajaj-Triumph 400s, most likely in a gentler state of tune to suit the bike's relaxed character. Triumph has not confirmed final output, so any figure doing the rounds right now is an estimate, not a specification.

What Buyers Should Watch

Building the Bonneville 400 at Bajaj's Pune plant is how Triumph has kept its 400 pricing aggressive. If the company lands the baby Bonnie close to the Classic 350, it becomes a genuine alternative for buyers who want Triumph badge value without the premium the brand's bigger twins command. If it is priced well above ₹2.5 lakh, it will stay a niche choice.

The other three models revealed on the same day are expected to include a Street Triple and two Tiger models, so the event is a full portfolio push rather than a single launch. For Indian buyers, though, the Bonneville 400 is the one that changes the maths in the most crowded part of the market.
