Hyundai Q2 FY27: Record ₹20,000 Crore Revenue, Profit Down 24% — and a Price Hike May Come Early

By AUTOASTRA Editorial · 3 Nov 2026 · News

Hyundai Motor India crossed ₹20,000 crore revenue for the first time in Q2 FY27 on record volumes, but profit fell 24 percent and another price hike may arrive before January.

Hyundai Q2 FY27: Best-Ever Quarter on Volume, Weaker on Profit

Hyundai Motor India's board signed off on its July-September 2026 results on 28 October, and the numbers pull in two directions at once. On volume and revenue it was the strongest quarter in the company's history: 2,19,072 vehicles sold, up 15 percent year on year and 23 percent over the April-June quarter, with revenue crossing ₹20,000 crore in a quarter for the first time. On profit, it was a step backwards, down 24 percent as steel, copper and other input costs climbed.

Domestic sales did the heavy lifting at 1,65,772 units, up 18.8 percent on both a yearly and sequential basis. Two details inside that number say a lot about where the Indian market is going. Rural penetration hit a record 26.6 percent, and CNG accounted for 19.1 percent of quarterly sales — up from 15.2 percent a year earlier — as CNG volumes grew 48 percent.

Hyundai price revisionScale of increase
January 2026About 0.6 percent
June 2026Up to ₹12,800, model-dependent
September 2026Up to 1 percent
November 2026 (i20)₹5,000 on most variants
January 2027Announced; could be advanced

The Price Question

Hyundai has already committed to a price increase in January 2027. On the post-results call, managing director and chief executive Tarun Garg said the company is watching commodity costs "very closely" and would bring the revision forward if steel and copper stay elevated, though it would "try to restrain" in the meantime. That is corporate language for a real possibility, not a certainty.

The November round has already started anyway. The i20 is now ₹5,000 dearer on every variant except the Era petrol manual and the Magna Executive petrol manual, taking the hatchback's range to roughly ₹6.00 lakh to ₹10.68 lakh ex-showroom. It is a small number, but it lands badly: the Maruti Baleno and Toyota Glanza have both just received mid-life updates with features the i20 does not match variant for variant.

What This Means for You

If you are negotiating on a Creta, Venue, Verna, Alcazar or Bayon between now and January, treat the current quotation as temporary. Hyundai's 2026 revisions have each been small — between 0.6 and 1 percent of ex-showroom price — so this is not a reason to panic-buy, but it is a good reason to get your dealer to confirm the price in writing through to delivery. Bookings that slip into December or January are the ones exposed.

Hyundai says it is fully geared up for a dedicated mass-market EV in Q4 FY27; charging access will decide how far it sells

The bigger strategic item is the dedicated mass-market EV Hyundai says it is "fully geared up" to launch in Q4 FY27, which will sit below the Creta Electric and is the model to watch if you are weighing an electric purchase in 2027. Until then, our EMI calculator is the quickest way to see what a small revision does to your monthly outgo, and the Creta model page tracks the current variant list.
