Hero MotoCorp led October 2026 two-wheeler dispatches with 7.05 lakh units while TVS electric sales more than doubled and Honda closed in on Hero's retail lead.
Festive stocking did what it usually does in October: it lifted almost everyone. Hero MotoCorp reported domestic dispatches of 7,05,084 units, up 16.6 per cent from 6,04,829 a year earlier, with total dispatches including exports at 7,34,403 units. Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India followed at 6,64,831 domestic units, a rise of 11 per cent, and TVS Motor came in third with 5,14,764 domestic two-wheelers, up 22.1 per cent.
The shape of the growth is more revealing than the totals. Hero's scooters, petrol and electric combined, jumped 60.8 per cent to 1,04,603 units, while motorcycles grew a more modest 10.4 per cent to 6,29,800. TVS, meanwhile, posted the sharpest number of the month in electrics: 71,382 units, up 120 per cent from 32,387 a year earlier, on the back of the iQube and the newer Orbiter. Its total sales including three-wheelers and exports reached 7,00,134 units, a 29 per cent rise.

On Vahan registrations, which measure actual purchases rather than dealer stocking, the market grew 28.7 per cent month on month to 23,20,139 two-wheelers. Honda led that table with 6,37,295 registrations against Hero's 5,98,523, and the gap has been closing all year. Honda has now cut Hero's calendar-year lead to 93,803 units from 2,32,416 at the end of June, a reduction of nearly 60 per cent in four months. Hero still leads on the strength of its electric business, but Honda has led monthly registrations every month since July.
Elsewhere, Suzuki Motorcycle India set an all-time monthly high of 1,24,559 units, a 20.4 per cent rise, and Royal Enfield grew 4 per cent domestically to 1,21,527 units with exports up 47 per cent to 11,915. Bajaj Auto's 2,92,885 domestic units were a 9.9 per cent improvement, with its total two-wheeler volume including exports at 5,01,194 units. Hero's electric brand VIDA dispatched 30,143 units and lifted its share of the electric two-wheeler segment to 13.6 per cent from 11.1 per cent a year earlier.
Two things follow for anyone shopping for a two-wheeler this month. First, the electric scooter market is now genuinely competitive, with TVS and Hero both scaling fast, which is why entry prices and battery warranties are moving in the buyer's favour; compare offers side by side on the AUTOINDIA comparison tool. Second, the record dispatch numbers are partly channel filling ahead of Diwali and Dhanteras, which fall in the first half of November. If you can wait until late December, dealers holding festive stock will be the ones calling you with offers. Work out the EMI on the EMI calculator before you visit a showroom, because festive finance schemes rarely beat a straight comparison.
